Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the murders of at least 42 women whose bodies were found in the Kware area of Embakasi, has escaped from Nairobi's Gigiri Police Station. According to a report from the media, Khalusha fled with 12 other Eritrean detainees who were being held for illegal immigration.

On Tuesday morning around 5:00 a.m., Police Constable Gerald Mutuku, along with the canteen manager, conducted a routine check of the cells to deliver breakfast. To their astonishment, they found that the 13 detainees had escaped by cutting through the wire mesh at the basking bay.

Khalusha had been in custody awaiting a court appearance for a plea hearing. In response to the escape, the Sub-County Police Commander, Sub-County Criminal Investigation Officer (SCCIO), and duty officer from Gigiri visited the scene and have launched an investigation to track down the fugitives.

Khalusha gained notoriety after confessing to killing at least 42 women and disposing of their bodies in Kware from 2022 to 2024. He claimed that his first victim was his wife, whom he strangled, dismembered, and left at a dumpsite. Khalusha later alleged that he was tortured by the police and coerced into confessing to the murders.
