A 26-year-old Ugandan man has been detained in Busia County on suspicion of defiling a 3-year-old child in the Nawitsula area of Butula.
Area Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Hellen Rotich confirmed that the suspect, a farmhand in the region, allegedly committed the crime in one of the local homes.
This incident has intensified community concerns in Busia County, as residents report a growing trend of defilement cases. Many locals express frustration, stating offenders often escape to neighboring Uganda, hindering justice.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in Busia court on Tuesday.
