Detectives suspect that the murder of Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager Willis Ayieko resulted from a violent robbery gone wrong.

According to investigators, suspects linked to the robbery and murder revealed that Ayieko sustained severe injuries after being brutally beaten. The main suspect, Robert Wakolo, who has since died, is believed to have played a central role in the attack.

Wakolo, a trained boxer with a history of involvement in robberies and murders in the region, allegedly forced Ayieko to divulge his bank and M-Pesa PIN by slamming his head against a wall. The injuries proved fatal as Ayieko suffered internal bleeding. Wakolo and his accomplices then devised a plan to dispose of his body.

Reports indicate that Wakolo called his brother in Kisumu to assist in carrying out their scheme. Victor Okoth, one of the suspects, now faces charges of murder and robbery with violence.

A total of seven suspects have been linked to Ayieko’s murder, which took place between October 18 and 23 in Siaya County. During the police operation to apprehend the gang, two suspects were shot dead, as they were also connected to other crimes in the area.

On November 12, police arrested 52-year-old Samuel Ongweso in Kakamega. Ongweso is accused of assisting in disposing of Ayieko’s body, which was dumped in Mungowere Stream on October 23. Authorities believe Ongweso was in Doho, Khisa West, at the time of the murder.

Investigations into the incident continue as authorities pursue justice for the slain HR manager.
