Elias Mutugi Njeru, a businessman facing charges of attempted murder, has been granted bail by the Molo Law Courts.

Njeru was released on a cash bail of Ksh. 200,000 or a bond of Ksh. 500,000.

The case, which has drawn widespread public attention, involves allegations that Njeru stabbed his partner, Florence Wanjiku Gichohi, multiple times.

He entered a not-guilty plea during his appearance before Principal Magistrate Daisy Mose. The court has scheduled a hearing for December 9 to issue pretrial directions.

Njeru, the main suspect in the attack, surrendered at Nakuru Police Station accompanied by his legal counsel from Gakuhi Chege and Associates Advocates.

He was re-arrested shortly afterward and detained at Menengai Police Station as investigations progressed.

The incident reportedly occurred at the couple's rental home in the Olive area of Nakuru amid alleged domestic conflicts. Gichohi, who is also Njeru’s business partner at Indigenous Land Properties Limited, sustained severe injuries and is currently hospitalized.

The case has sparked outrage, with local leaders and activists condemning the violence. Gender Principal Secretary Anna Wangombe called for swift justice and supported the victim's family.

 “This tragic incident underscores the urgent need to address domestic violence. We are committed to providing legal aid and standing by the victim’s family.”

The case has reignited discussions on the rise in domestic violence, prompting calls for enhanced policies and interventions to prevent such incidents.
