Three police officers in Nairobi's Ngara area suffered severe burn injuries during a confrontation with hostile residents on Monday.
According to a police report, the officers, Tom Mbuku, Moses Lelei, and Joyce Otieno, were pursuing a suspect believed to be transporting stolen drugs from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) to Ngara Medical Centre.
The suspect reportedly fled into a facility, locking the door behind him to prevent the officers from entering. Despite repeated attempts to break down the door and calls for the suspect to surrender, their efforts were unsuccessful.
The situation escalated when a woman, identified as Mororoi, 45, emerged from the facility and allegedly doused the officers with a substance suspected to be acid. The chemical attack left the officers with severe injuries to their faces and limbs.
