A bar attendant at Kapcherany Trading Centre in Bomet County is recovering from a severe gunshot wound after an accidental shooting involving a senior police officer.
The incident occurred when the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) from Trans Nzoia County allegedly mishandled his firearm while demonstrating its operation to a companion in the bar.
During the demonstration, the gun discharged, striking the attendant in the stomach.
The injured attendant was rushed to Litein Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for the critical injury.
Bomet County Deputy Police Commandant Jamleck Ngaruiya confirmed that officers from Kapletundo Police Station quickly responded to the scene. They secured the area and collected statements from witnesses, including the bar owner.
