Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended three suspects accused of killing a bar security guard and stealing alcohol worth Ksh.26,000.

The first suspect, 31-year-old Festus Odhiambo, alias Arum, was arrested in Migori, while his accomplices, Thomas Momanyi Omenta (31) and Grace Kerubo Oseko (26), were captured in Kisii township.

According to the DCI, evidence recovered during the arrests included blood-stained clothing linked to Odhiambo and stolen mobile phones found with the other two suspects.

The trio allegedly attacked the 22-year-old guard at Engako Bar in Nyachenge trading center, Kisii, bludgeoning him with crude weapons. After leaving him for dead, they broke into the bar and stole alcohol valued at Ksh.26,000.

“As the victim bled out, the assailants broke into the bar and disappeared with the stolen alcohol,” the DCI reported.

The incident was reported by the Tabaka area chief, prompting police to launch a manhunt that led to the suspects' capture.

On Friday, the Sub-County Head of Investigations conducted an identification parade after it was revealed that the suspects had been patrons at the bar on the night of the murder. Regular customers positively identified the trio during the exercise.

The suspects are currently detained at Nyamarambe Police Station under a miscellaneous application as investigations continue.
