Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit have arrested a 27-year-old woman at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after finding her in possession of two kilograms of bhang.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspect as Quinter Achieng Matengo, who was intercepted while attempting to travel to Doha, Qatar.

The arrest occurred during a routine luggage screening conducted by Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) staff in coordination with the anti-narcotics team, who became suspicious of her belongings.

"Collaborating with KAA staff who flagged questionable items during the screening process, detectives intercepted the suspected drug trafficker bound for Doha, Qatar," the DCI reported.

Investigators later discovered that the drugs were hidden inside packets of maize flour. Following an interrogation, Matengo was handed over to the anti-narcotics unit for further processing.

"The recovered drugs were weighed and securely stored as evidence, while the suspect was prepared for arraignment," police confirmed.
