Police officers in Mwihoko, Kiambu County, are searching for a man accused of stabbing his wife and fatally wounding his 16-year-old daughter during a domestic altercation.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Elius Jacob Katanga, had reportedly been estranged from his wife, Teresia Wairimu, 45, due to marital disputes. On the day of the incident, Katanga returned to their residence and forcefully banged on the door.

When Teresia opened the door, Katanga allegedly seized their three-year-old son, claiming he was taking the child with him. Teresia resisted, prompting the suspect to grab a kitchen knife. He is accused of stabbing Teresia on the head before turning on their teenage daughter, who screamed for help and stabbing her in the back.

Katanga fled the scene, leaving behind the unharmed toddler and the bloodied knife believed to be the murder weapon.

Neighbors rushed the injured victims to Ruiru Sub-County Hospital, where the daughter was pronounced dead upon arrival. Teresia is currently receiving treatment at the same facility and is reported to be in serious but stable condition.

Police confirmed they recovered the blood-stained knife at the scene and later visited the hospital. The deceased girl’s body has been transferred to Thika Level 5 Hospital for further procedures.

Investigations are ongoing, and law enforcement urges anyone with information about Katanga's whereabouts to come forward.
