A butchery attendant lost his life on Monday evening following a violent altercation with his colleague at Ranen market in Migori County.

According to Area Chief Phares Osore, the victim, 35-year-old Geoffrey Ouma, was fatally stabbed by his co-worker, Ochieng Odhiambo.

Preliminary reports suggest that the two had been accusing each other of reporting to their employer about recurring losses of meat at both the butchery and a slaughterhouse where they were employed.

Chief Osore revealed that the employer had been considering terminating both workers due to the consistent meat losses, which may have fueled the blame game and escalated tensions between them.

After the incident, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to Ranen police post. The body of the deceased was transferred to Rapcom Hospital Mortuary, awaiting an autopsy and further investigations.

Chief Osore has urged young people in the area to avoid resorting to violence and instead embrace peaceful means to resolve disputes.
