A deep sense of grief has engulfed Tach Asis village in Konoin, Bomet County, after a shocking incident in which a 35-year-old man reportedly beheaded his two young children, aged 2 and 7.
Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga confirmed the heartbreaking event, stating that the suspect, identified as Geoffrey Kipkemoi, allegedly used a kitchen knife to carry out the brutal killings. The bodies of the two children were later discovered in the family’s kitchen.
According to the police report, the children's mother was not at home during the incident. She stumbled upon the horrifying scene after noticing a trail of bloodstains that led her to the kitchen, where she found the lifeless bodies and immediately notified the authorities.
Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, secured the area, and recovered the suspected murder weapon. The bodies of the victims were transported to Kapkatet Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
The suspect was arrested shortly afterward and remains in police custody as investigations into the tragic case continue.
