A gang allegedly held Narok Central OCPD Fredrick Shiundu at gunpoint on Tuesday night before escaping with his state-issued gun by Jericho Narok County police.

According to Narok County Police Commander Mutoro Kizito, who confirmed the 10 p.m. event, the armed men waited for Shiundu outside his home. They attacked him when he opened the gate to his property.

Before loading Shiundu into a Toyota Wish and travelling 17 kilometres to the Tipis area, where they robbed and abandoned the senior police officer, the suspects disarmed him.

After his wife reported that the kidnapping occurred in his house, Shiundu was taken back by his fellow police officers, who monitored his cell phone.

The suspects may have shot the OCPD, but Muturo allegedly talked them out of doing it after personally questioning Shiundu about the event.

In addition, Mutoro said that police have started their inquiries into the incident, which he described as being systematically planned, and he urged anyone with information to contact the authorities.

"These folks appear to know him and have followed him the entire time. Although we have not yet determined the precise causes of the occurrence, we assume they were after the weapon, " he explained.
