Three women are in police custody after tainting drinks for three partygoers who had invited them to join them for merriment at a nyama choma restaurant in Kamakis near the Eastern Bypass.

The three males went to Green Spot Gardens on Sunday afternoon, where they saw the 3 "mchele beibz" and invited them to their table, according to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday.

The three women, Hellen Wambui, 36, Irene Wairimu, 30, and Fidelis Wambui, 34, initially expressed reluctance to accept the invitation but subsequently joined the group and kept downing a string of beverages.

"The women initially pretended to be wary, but one of the males jokingly remarked, "Maitu, yumbukaga na kiria imeretie." (It takes what it has consumed and flies), "wrote DCI.

The women smiled as they joined them in tearing off the marinated, delicious goat ribs and washing them down with rounds of drinks, according to DCI. "That phrase seemed to have worked the charm," he continued.

The hit song Wendo Wi Cama by well-known Kikuyu musicians Samidoh and Joyce Wamama rents the air, creating the mood for a happy conclusion. The men, flushed with youthful delight, enjoyed their newfound companionship.

The women used the men's ignorance of the fact that their drinks were spiked with a stupefying drug to their advantage to lure them into falling prey to their scheme.

The restaurant's bartender allegedly saw strange activity around the table where the six people were seated and promptly alerted police, who responded and detained the three.

The group will be detained at the Ruiru Police Station as they await arraignment.
