A truck driver died after being engulfed in flames in Machakos while escaping after killing a pedestrian.
According to a police report, the lorry was headed to Machakos from kitui when the accident happened. The victim of the hit-and-run was identified as 35-year-old Dominic Musyoki Mutuku. Mutuku died on the spot.
The driver did not stop despite pleas from the residents—the driver of the Mitsubishi lorry registration no. KDD 052G chose to chase the driver after he failed to stop.
With the boda boda operators on his tail, the lorry driver attempted to navigate through traffic, only to collide with the back of a Nissan Saloon car, registration number KBN 107M, driven by one Michael Mulinge.
