Three men died Yesterday when an angry mob beat them to death and set them on fire in Kiambu County.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the men are accused of robbing a woman in Kiambu County's Makongeni district of a purse (DCI).

Authorities said three males on a motorcycle attacked a woman while she was doing her daily business in the Polysack neighbourhood before fleeing in a red getaway motorcycle with no license plates toward Thika town.

On a mission to bring the evading three to justice, the boda boda riders set out in hot pursuit.

At the Delta Fuel Station, the pursuit ended abruptly when a speeding matatu just missed colliding with the escape motorcyclist.

According to reports, the rider of the bike lost control as it swerved to escape a head-on accident, and the trio fell to the ground with a crash.

The boda boda riders descended on the hapless men with blows and kicks, accusing them of tarnishing their work.

By the time police officers attending to other emergencies arrived, the three had unfortunately been crushed and their bodies set ablaze.

In order for their relatives to identify their bodies, police transferred their corpses to the mortuary at General Kago hospital.

The DCI urged the people to turn over such suspects to the police so that they can face justice in a court of law rather than enforcing the law themselves.
