A sting operation led by sleuths from the directorate of criminal investigations led to the arrest of a deadly trio in Embu the three are said to be the masterminds of organized robberies in Embu county and its environs the operation is part of security operations to end insecurity in parts of the country

Crime busters from the directorate of criminal investigations have arrested a suspected gang leader involved in a spate of crimes in Embu. The suspect is said to have been the main perpetrator in robberies and armed attacks destabilizing the lives of the people of Embu and its environs.

"Following the spate of robberies and armed attacks that have rocked Embu county and its environs, an undercover team of detectives has arrested the main suspects and recovered crucial exhibits related to the crimes," DCI said on social media.

The sting operation led to the arrest of three culprits that will slowly bring to an end the escalating crime in the county.

"Three main suspects have been rounded up after a four-day sting operation that was conducted by detectives from the elite crime research and intelligence bureau to put to an end the escalating crime wave that had bedeviled the town and its environs," the crime busters disclosed.

Ames Murathi alias jim carter, Andrew Murathi alias waaxy, and charles mwaniki alias Bush were arrested on tuesday, november 21. They will be cooling their heels at the Siakago police station as they await interrogation to assist detectives with more investigations.

The trio is connected to a crime in august in Ishiara mbeere north, where they broke into a house and terrorized its occupants before making away with assorted household goods, an unspecified amount of cash and the motor vehicle of their victim.

"This is after they disconnected the home’s CCTv cameras and took off with its recorder to avoid being unmasked. Detectives have since recovered the vehicle and handed it back to its owner," the DCI disclosed. In october, the suspects armed with machetes, axes and other crude weapons staged another attack at a homestead in Kanyuambora and made away with around ksh30,000 and 6 mobile phones. the middle-aged men will be arraigned in court to answer to charges of robbery with violence contravening sections 203 and 204 of the penal code in the laws of Kenya.
