The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) launched an investigation into the alleged killing of two men on Sunday in muranga.

Chairperson of IPOA Anne Makori said that a team of investigators had been sent to the scene of the incident after it was established that officers were involved in the shooting of the two suspects. She added that action would be taken after the completion of the investigations.

TWO GANGSTERS SHOT DEAD, AND FIREARMS AND SH.1.13M RECOVERED

Anne makori spoke after kenyans on Twitter raised concerns after the DCI posted a picture of two suspects arrested after stealing large amounts of cash. The DCI pulled the post down and updated another one, which showed the two suspects dead after an alleged shootout with police officers in muranga.

Two shots were used in the initial position to show the legs of the arrested two gangsters, one with brown camel shoes and black trousers and the other with black socks and beige trousers.

The second post contained two rifles, 18 rounds, and a pile of cash wrapped in rubber bands. However, the comment section turned for the worse when a tweep posted an image of two men in identical outfits to those seen in the DCI post, asking, "Good day, hekaya itanuka. Do you recognise this image?"

The men in the image were seated on the ground, tied to one handcuff and several officers around them dressed in army fatigues.

The DCI later revealed that the suspects were shot dead in Muranga after a shootout with officers. Twitter users demanded an explanation for how suspects apprehended alive by the DCI were later reported dead by the same DCI.
