The family of rally driver Maxine Wahome accused of killing a fellow rally driver and boyfriend, asad khan, have maintained that their daughter is innocent and are confident that their daughter will be acquitted.
Ms Wahome's parents, through their new lawyer Phillip Murgor, voiced their concern about how the State reached its choice to charge her with the killing of her boyfriend. The 27-year-old race driver is being held at the Kilimani Police Station and underwent a successful mental evaluation at the mathari hospital, which determined that she was fit to stand trial.
Mr Murgor, the lawyer to the accused, stated that after reviewing all of the evidence in the case, he still does not comprehend why Maxine, his client, was charged with the killing of her boyfriend but added that he would not discuss the case's merits or demerits at this time.
He also implored the Prosecutors and the officers handling the case to give him all the evidence they had for a speedy trial.

"I have been engaged to lead in the defense of Maxine now that a very surprising charge of murder has been proffered against her. I have reviewed the facts that are in the knowledge of the family and all her friends and from where I stand, I can say with absolute confidence that Maxine is innocent," he said.
"We have not seen the evidence they will provide but we just want to say that tomorrow when she is taken to court, we expect the State will not oppose bail," he added.
Maxine wahome had been granted a kshs 100000 cash bail by Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi. Still, the bail was later revoked by Justice Mutende, and she remains in the custody of the DCI. Asad died at the hospital while receiving treatment after being stabbed multiple times.
