A trailer driver transporting bhang from Uganda has been arrested at the Lwakhakha screening entry point.

Bungoma Wet OCPD David Kandie confirmed the Monday incident saying the driver was nabbed by the Kenya police service and the Administrative police officers who were on their cargo and passengers screening duties at the Lwakhakha entry point.

He revealed that the trailer was moving from Kampala Uganda to Mombasa.

The driver was arrested and will be arraigned at the Sirisia court.

Additionally, Kandie stated that the officers found four gunny sacks upon inspection of the container, were unsealed and three of them were found to contain 1,500 brooms of bhang.

He added that the fourth sack was found containing 1,000 brooms.

The officer has cautioned warned those found transporting drugs will face the rough side of the law.

“I have instructed police officers along the screening point to do a tough search before allowing people entering and exiting Uganda to move,” Kandie said.
