On Monday morning, the body of a female university student was discovered floating in a river on the outskirts of Bomet.

The body found floating has been identified as that of Mary Ann Wangari, a 22-year-old fourth-year student at Bomet University.

According to authorities, the corpse was discovered floating in the roaring waters of the Nyangores River in the Chebirir district.

According to Deputy Police Commandant Ali Bashir of the Bomet Central sub-county, the Communication and Public Relations student went missing on Tuesday last week.

Bashir says that the female's body was discovered by an individual in the public who proceeded to inform the police officers.

“Our officers and the school administration have begun recording statements from students who were last seen with the deceased as we embark on serious investigations,” said Bashir.

He also saw that the corpse had begun to decompose. The body has been sent to the mortuary at Longisa County Referral Hospital.
