Armed men on Monday raided the Ruai Family Hospital in Nairobi and robbed patients off mobile phones and cash.

Police were notified by security at the Ruai Family Hospital that a motorcycle-riding gang of two entered the hospital early on Monday, April 10th.

The guards claimed that they were armed with firearms when the group arrived and wanted money and electronics.

One of the shooters shot one round onto the floor to signal their presence, prompting the staff and patients present to give in and lie down.

One of the shooters then went on to take four mobile phones and an unknown quantity of cash from the patients in the room.

According to police, no one was hurt during the incident or taken into custody.

A spent 9mm cartridge was found at the scene by a detective team.

When the gang chose to raid the hospital, they may have been engaged in a nighttime robbery spree, according to police.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, a team of investigators went to the facility to examine CCTV footage that had recorded their movements as part of the investigation into the incident.

Adamson Bungei, the head of the Nairobi police, said they are collaborating with their Kiambu counterparts to apprehend the perpetrators.

The area's private hospital is well-liked and beneficial to many because it is thought to be reasonably priced and efficiently run.
