Detectives at Ruiru Police Station were taken aback after a murder suspect described killing his wife and stuffing her body in a suitcase before discarding it outside a rental property. 

Mr Morris Njuguna, 28, admitted in a confession statement on April 22 that he murdered Mitikenda Estate on the outskirts of Ruiru town.

Risper Ndunge and her husband, Mr Njuguna, spent most of Monday last week working at a local restaurant.

Mr Njuguna worked as the chef at the restaurant on the Eastern Bypass in Ruiru, Kiambu County, while his nine-month-old wife worked as the cashier. Theirs was a love born at a seafood restaurant where they met.

Mr Njuguna would later propose Ndunge for the cashier position, and she was recruited. Nothing hinted that death was pursuing Ndunge as they served clients on Monday. He claimed Ndunge died after he slammed her head against a wall.

Mr Njuguna stated that his wife's death startled him and that he placed the body in a suitcase and dumped it to avoid arrest. The suitcase was then placed in a white sack by him. He explained that he tied up the sack's opening with string and set out to dump the body,

However, her lifeless body was discovered the next day, stowed in a sack and discarded 500 meters from their leased property in the Kamakis region near the Eastern Bypass.

njuguna added that he left the suitcase near a rental house and returned home, and was planning how to flee but didn't have any money, so he decided to stay

On April 21, he was arrested. Residents of Mitikenda Estate had witnessed him struggle to carry the sack. Some neighbours reportedly recognized her after her body was discovered.

Mr Njuguna, the key suspect in Ndunge's murder, has been apprehended and will be arraigned today. Ndunge appears to have been struck with a blunt object, according to the police. The police confession will only be significant if the subject enters a guilty plea in court.

Ruiru Sub County Police Commander Alexander Shikondi said that they could only hope that he would plead guilty and assist them in completing this case and that If he pleaded not guilty, they would have to prove his guilt.
