Police detained a couple and their son after allegedly beating one of their siblings to death in Nyamira County over a lost Sh50.

According to the police, the event occurred in the village of Iganeitambe, where the 17-year-old lad passed away following a beating.

The deceased's elder brother alleged that his younger sibling was the suspect in the disappearance of his Sh50.

The deceased attended a nearby secondary school and was a Form Four student.

The youngster was beaten, and when he lost consciousness, his parents and older brother had to take him to the hospital right away, where he passed away, according to the authorities.

The youngster had injuries to his knee, forehead, and waist when the police arrived at the hospital after being summoned.

Before a potential arraignment, the deceased's parents and older brother were held.

Police moved to court seeking to detain them for a week as they conducted an autopsy on the body as part of the probe into the incident.

Police say they are handling a murder incident.
