Two TV screens and a public address system were taken over the weekend from the Kisumu County parliament chambers, and police in Kisumu are looking into the crime.

There are rumours that an undetermined number of thugs entered the assembly rooms through the windows and stole the machinery.

On Monday morning, DCI officers from Kisumu Central Police Station cleaned up the crime scene and began their inquiries to identify the offenders and bring them to justice.

Assembly Clerk Owen Ojuok verified the occurrence and said they had already reported it to the police, which they hoped would charge the culprits.

However, questions will inevitably arise over how the thugs gained entry to the gated area shared by the Kisumu central police station.

Two police officers and a private security company are on duty around-the-clock to protect the gathering.

The assembly Hansard crew frequently uses the TV screens and the audio mixer to broadcast live proceedings.
