Following a long-standing boundary dispute between the two counties, a new conflict occurred Thursday in Sondu along the Kisumu-Kericho border.
On Wednesday, two people were killed, and 15 others were injured as anti-government protests turned into a border clash between Kisumu and Kericho counties.
Five people were admitted to the Nyabondo mission hospital with gunshot wounds, three with critical stab wounds, and four more with arrows lodged in various areas of their bodies.

One person died at the Sigowet sub-county hospital from an arrow wound purportedly received during the Sondu protests.
Three others are being treated at the same clinic after being attacked by a gang of unruly teenagers.
Kericho County Commissioner Michael Lesimam verified the occurrence, expressing confidence that the turmoil would be contained.
"We are monitoring the situation today...we expect it to be less bad than yesterday, but we have enough police officers there and will back them up if necessary," Lesimam added.
Over the years, the Sondu market has been plagued by intermittent confrontations as Kisumu and Kericho counties disagree on the placement of the boundary that separates the two counties.
