A man is nursing gunshot injuries after armed robbers attacked him on Thursday night in Kagio town in Kirinyaga County.

The incident has caused unrest as traders and residents abandoned their businesses to scamper for safety.

The victim, Nahason Njeru Kibuci alias "whiteline" speaking at Kagio Nursing Hospital, said he was attacked by three armed gangsters near the gate of his homestead, where he was shot in his shoulders before they fled.

“I was accosted by three armed people who flew using a motorcycle after shooting me. I only heard a gunshot and then saw blood on all parts of my before I was brought here by a good Samaritan,” he said.

Further, Kibuci recounted that he closed his cereal shop at around 9:30 pm before he boarded a boda boda to take him home two kilometres away.

"I noted the three people as I was closing my business little did I know I would meet the same people at the gate of my house. They stole some little money that I had in my pocket before they made away with my bunch of keys thinking it my money," Kibuci said.

Ndia police commander Wilson Koskei confirmed the incident, saying they are hunting for the suspects.
