A Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) pastor has been arrested by police in Kisii over connection of the alleged child trafficking of ten children from Marsabit County to the County.

The arrests comes after residents raised an alarm when the children aged between five to ten years were booked in a guest room last night with two men who accompanied them.

Police officers arrested the two men with these children from the said guest house and were taken to the central police station.

Further, an SDA pastor who is said to have transported these children was also arrested and taken in for questioning.

Confirming the incident, Kisii County police commander Charles Kasses said they have launched instigation.

“The two men who accompanied these children had their kids among the ten who were rescued, these parents say they were taking the kids for sponsorship in an orphanage in Kenyenya sub-county but we are trying to confirm this,” said Kasses.

DCI officials traveled to Kenya to look into this orphanage and the methods used to sponsor these kids.

Human rights advocates from Rigena have denounced the event and urged the authorities to investigate it and ensure the kids are protected.

“We would like to ask the police officers to take the children for medication to ensure their health is well,” Osoro said.

He noted there are so many loopholes in this incident making them conclude the sponsorship exercise is questionable.

Omobera SDA Conference chief pastor James Ondabu has since denied the allegations of sponsorship from the church and said they will take legal action against defamation.

“We don’t have an orphanage in this church and we don’t have plans to build one soon,” he said
