A 35-year-old woman from Nairobi has been charged with assault after she called her baby daddy to beat up her husband in the middle of the night.
According to reports, the woman reportedly beat up her husband and threatened to murder him. Grace Wanjiku, along with her "ex-lover," her baby daddy, is accused of attacking Mr Umberto Daniel on September 10 at his home in Nairobi's South B Estate.
Wanjiku is accused of threatening to kill Umberto after allegedly screaming, "I will kill someone....don't dare me," while brandishing a kitchen knife and asking her where she was going after getting home after midnight.
The co-accused, Wanjiku's ex-partner, who did not attend court, was to be prosecuted for uttering death threats after reportedly threatening to shoot Umberto. The court has since summoned him.
Wanjiku was also charged with causing a commotion following the incident at the complainant's house.
Wanjiku allegedly became angry and began tossing and destroying things in the house before a fight broke out between her and Umberto.
As she packed her items, she allegedly grabbed a knife and scratched the walls, threatening to murder Umberto.
She then contacted her ex, who arrived minutes later and joined her in hitting Umberto before allegedly threatening him with death.
The two suspects eventually fled the scene together, while Umberto went to South B Police Station and reported the incident at 3 a.m.
Wanjiku disputed the charges before Makadara Law Court Senior Principal Magistrate Hellen Okwany. She will be detained at Nairobi Women's Prison. Wanjiku's ex-partner was ordered to appear in court on October 23 for the case's mention, when he is expected to be charged.
