The primary suspect in the murder of Eric Maigo, the acting director of finance at Nairobi Hospital, has been detained.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detained Ann Adhiambo Akinyi in Kibra as part of an intelligence-driven operation. She had been missing and on the run since Thursday last week.

She is being held at the Muthaiga Police Station in anticipation of being transferred to the Kilimani Police Station, which is in charge of the case.

On Friday, September 15, 2023, in the early morning hours, Maigo was stabbed 25 times.

In videos, the suspect can be seen attempting to scale the perimeter wall of the victim's home in Woodley Annex-Upper to flee.

In a statement on Friday, DCI said that the clothes the suspect was wearing at Bombolulu Village in Kibra had been found thanks to the suspect's photos circulated online on Thursday.

Later investigation would determine that the suspect is between 15 and 17.

Cynthia Lusega Andalo, another suspect, was previously detained and charged with the horrific slaying.

However, the prosecution claimed it lacked sufficient proof to press charges against or keep the accused suspect in custody, and the judge ordered her release.
