Residents of Kenyerere village, Nyamira County, are in shock after the body of a 33-year-old woman was found dumped in a borehole.
According to police officers at the scene, The body had knife incisions, implying that she was murdered somewhere else and her body thrown in the borehole. Area assistant chief Fredrick Maosa confirmed the identity of the victim of the crime.
The deceased was taken to the Gucha Hospital mortuary in Nyamira county for a postmortem.
In other news, A 39-year-old boda boda rider was sentenced to 40 years in prison for defiling an eight-year-old child.
The accused, Mwarabu Omar Pato, was sentenced after the prosecution, led by PC Barbara Sombo, proved that he had assaulted the 8-year-old child, who is his relative.
According to Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo, Pato perpetrated the heinous conduct on November 14, 2022, in the Mikanjuni region of Jomvu Sub-county inside Mombasa County.
Magistrate Odhiambo said that the prosecution had presented indisputable evidence of the offender's identification, the victim's age, Post-Rape Care (PRC), and P3 documents.
"Mwarabu Omar Pato was convicted by Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo, who ruled that the prosecution, through PC Barbara Sombo, had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt by proving the three ingredients of the age of the minor, penetration, and positive identification of the accused in the defilement case," said the ODPP.
"Odhiambo also ruled that the evidence and testimonies of the prosecution witnesses were irrefutable, including the Post-Rape Care (PRC) and P3 forms, which showed that the complainant was indeed defiled." He Added
