Police in Nakuru have detained ten suspects accused of being members of a criminal gang terrorizing locals in Kaptembwa, Rhonda, and Flamingo informal settlements.

Nakuru County police Commander Samuel Ndanyi told the journalists outside Nakuru Central police station that the suspects were apprehended in a sting operation conducted by security officers on Monday night, where they were found possessing rudimentary weapons.

"We found knives, toy pistols, marijuana, and other items." "We are still carrying out the operation and hope to apprehend more suspects," he said.


"We are grateful to the locals for volunteering information that has immensely helped us to nab the suspects, we call upon the residents to continue cooperating with the officers to rid of the menace," he continued.

Ndanyi stated that they are always improving community policing initiatives to make neighborhoods safer for individuals to go freely without fear of being attacked.

In other news, Police in Narok South Constituency, Narok County, are investigating an incident where a 16-year-old girl was beaten to death by her father.

The man, Isaiah Kibet Sawe Kipsigis, 44, of Jerusalem Village in Narok County, is accused of assaulting his daughter, a Form Two student at Sagamian Secondary School. The girl died at Longisa Hospital while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to face charges of criminal activity.

The deceased was taken to Longisa Sub-County Hospital for an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.
