A week before it opens in theaters, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert film has surpassed all box office expectations.

According to its distributor AMC, global advance ticket sales for the film have reached $100 million (£82 million), and demand "has been incredible from the moment it was first announced."

The company said the movie broke its record for the most significant one-day sales in less than 24 hours.

Swift's world tour, expected to last until late 2024, is on pace to surpass all previous records.

Stadium ticket sales may surpass $1.4 billion, breaking the previous record set by Elton John's farewell tour.

Next Friday, the Eras tour movie is scheduled for release in theaters across more than 100 nations.

Analysts predict that in addition to advance ticket sales, the movie might earn an additional $100 million at the box office during its first weekend in North America.

Barbie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse are just a few movies that have made more than $100 million in their North American openings this year.

The film of Beyonce's Renaissance tour, which will be released in December, is also distributed by AMC.

Swift made history in 2017 when she had a song in each of the top 10 positions on the US singles chart.

In September 2021, she passed Drake, who had previously held the record for having nine top 10 singles simultaneously. The Beatles previously held the record with eight singles, ranking in the top 10 in 1964.

According to Spotify, Swift made history in August when she became the first female artist ever to achieve 100 million monthly listeners.

The news was announced following the success of her third re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor's Version), which topped the US and UK charts when it was released in July.

Swift will release her new album, 1989 (Taylor's Version), later this month. She is redoing her earlier albums so that she may possess the original takes of the songs.
