Citizen TV anchor Lulu Hassan recently addressed the possibility of shifting her focus from news anchoring to her TV production company, which she co-owns with her husband, Rashid Abdalla. Responding to inquiries from journalists during the launch of the Zari Show on Maisha Magic, Lulu Hassan reaffirmed her steadfast dedication to journalism. She emphasized her enduring passion for the field and her continued commitment to her role as a news anchor.

“It is not about leaving our work because we have another job. News anchoring and journalism is something that we all love. Many people may not know this but I was once an actress. Back then, we did not get these platforms,” she said.

According to Lulu Hassan, her position provides a platform to spotlight acting talents from her Coastal region. Alongside her husband Rashid Abdalla, they operate Jiffy Productions, responsible for producing well-received shows like Maria, Zora, Sultana, and Zari.

“What we used to do was stage plays. Acting is in my blood. When I got the opportunity to go on TV. I used that opportunity to attract those I was with back home. We are creating stars and opportunities.”

When asked about the potential of establishing their own TV station, she mentioned that it hasn't been a consideration for them at this time. Their primary focus is currently on creating top-notch content and generating employment opportunities.

“Hio ndoto ya TV station hatuna," said Lulu.
