Kenyan rapper Ssaru recently discussed the potential for a musical collaboration with content creator and rapper Diana Marua, also known as Diana B, in interviews with local media on November 14.

Ssaru conveyed uncertainty regarding the likelihood of a joint musical project, hinting that Diana B may have been hesitant due to the formidable nature of her impactful lyrics in the collaboration with Bahati on the song. “Mambo ya Mhesh Remix.”

Remaining open to collaborative content creation, Ssaru emphasized the importance of individuals focusing on their respective strengths. While recognizing Diana B's proficiency in content creation, Ssaru firmly asserted that music is not Diana B's area of expertise.

“We could work together on content creation because she excels in that. However, when it comes to rap, I’ve got that covered,” Ssaru explained.

In response to the challenges that women in the music industry often face, involving the perception that success may be tied to compromising situations, Ssaru firmly asserted her status as a legitimate artist with undeniable talent. She underlined that she has no inclination to resort to compromising situations to make a meaningful impact.

“Mafans wanatukalia ngumu. Wanasema hatutoi ngoma lakini tukitoa hawaskizi. Wanapromot za nje," stated Ssaru.

“Initially, people didn’t like me because I projected an assertive attitude. I’m fortunate that few people get that acceptance. Once people embrace you, it’s something no one can take away. It’s talent, and it’s here to stay,” she added.

Ssaru's remarks underscore the difficulties encountered by women in the music industry, simultaneously showcasing her unwavering confidence in her own abilities. She persists in her journey toward success, relying on her talent and diligent efforts.
