Kenyans on social media were outraged after President Ruto's daughter, Charlene Ruto, was appointed as blood ambassador by Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Susan Nakhumicha, who praised her efforts for championing the cause.

"This letter is to appoint you as a Kenya Blood Ambassador and ask that: you continue to be a spokesperson to your friends, Kenyan youth family, peers and the Kenyan citizens to engage and encourage people to give blood to save lives," said Nakhumicha.

"From time to time (you should) collaborate with the Kenya Tissue and Transpalant Authority, or partners in blood related events including public education and resource mobilization." she added.

Social media users were not pleased with the news and accused the current government of nepotism while calling for the appointment to be revoked.

"Revoke that charlene Ruto Appointed with all Due Respect Susan Nakhumicha,we campaigned for President William Ruto on the basis of improving the livelihoods of the Hustlers Not his Family for heavens Sake.For Millions of jobless youths out here this is Injustice."

others questioned whether there was a shortage of medical professionals who could hold the position, adding that several doctors are waiting to be placed in hospitals.

"Are you kidding me?? Qualified docs are sitting on their couches at home b/c you don’t want to post them but are out here celebrating this!? If you truly care about health for Kenyans (and gathering political mileage while at it), post medical interns!!"
