Social media influencer and media personality Joyce Maina has seemingly responded to claims made by her ex-boyfriend Tony Kwalanda on why their relationship ended.
In a video response posted to her social media page, Joyce said she was different back then and would probably judge her old self for the things she entertained.
“There is something I am trying to get across. I am at a phase of my life where I would 100% judge myself, like my past self,” Maina expressed, reflecting on her actions in 2019 and 2022.

Joyce acknowledged that she had entertained a lot of negativity in her past and that when she looked back, she didn't even recognize who that person was.
“The Joyce of 2019-2019 did some very stupid things. She let a lot of rubbish into her life.” she said
“I feel so different… I am at a phase where I can look back and think, who was that? I feel like a completely different person.” she added.
“In giving myself grace and forgiveness, I recognise the transformative power of learning from past phases to become better and wiser in the present,” Joyce said.
During a previous interview, Tony revealed that he had to break up with Joyce Maina because of cultural differences that would have caused more problems had they decided to stay together.
"I loved Joyce Maina very much...we met in a very funny way, but there came a time when my heart told me to love her, so I opened my heart, and we dated," he recalled.
"In our customs from Malava, men name the children... Joyce said she's the carrier, implying she would have the final say in naming, regardless of my input," Kwalanda explained.
"Hearing her say that if she were pregnant and came home, she'd want me to cook for her... that's a red flag for us men from Western [Kenya]. We don't like being reminded [of such expectations]," he added.
