Kevin Hart broke his silence after fellow comedian Katt Williams called him an “industry plant” and suggested his career wasn’t legitimate. In an interview with WSJ Magazine, Hart said of Williams’ comments: “It’s just that. It’s entertainment.” Williams had suggested that Hart’s story of how his career developed over the years was a lie in an interview on the podcast Club Shay Shay. “[Hart] just did his documentary with Chris Rock where he shows you that his whole upbringing in comedy was on the East Coast,” Williams said at the time. “So how simultaneously was he here in Los Angeles doing the same thing? It didn’t happen,” and added, “I hate to seem like a petty individual for picking apart lies.” Hart told WSJ that he didn’t let Williams’ words get to him. “If that’s what [Williams] fuels himself off, God bless him,” Hart told the magazine. “Good for him. I hope he gets all that he needs and he wants, and I’m here cheering for him from afar.” Hart further emphasized that he had no bad blood with Williams. “That’s how happy and secure I am with my career and my life.”
Katt Williams' comments regarding fellow comedians during his appearance on Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast elicited a variety of responses from listeners.
