Romanian police announced on Tuesday that controversial internet influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested on Monday in Romania on suspicion of committing sex offenses in the UK.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Service and Voluntari police department of the nation "executed two European arrest warrants issued by the UK judicial authorities for the commission of sexual offences and exploitation of persons on the territory of Great Britain," according to a statement.

The statement also stated that the two men were brought before the public prosecutor of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, who ruled that they would be detained for a full day at the Bucharest Police Headquarters.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Tate's spokesperson Mateea Petrescu, the Tate brothers are shocked and extremely disturbed by this perplexing resurgence of allegations that date back ten years.

"They categorically reject all charges and express profound disappointment that such serious allegations are being resurrected without substantial new evidence," Petrescu said.

According to a CNN affiliate Antena three reporter at the Bucharest Court of Appeals hearing on Tuesday, the Tate brothers declared in court that they did not wish to be sent back to the United Kingdom.

"When I was falsely accused for the first time years ago, I didn't understand how my life could be destroyed so much," Andrew Tate told the judge, according to Antena 3.

After being detained by the police for three months in Bucharest last year, Tate and his brother were put under house arrest while a criminal investigation was ongoing. They have refuted the allegations that they abused seven women.

After being freed in August, they were placed under judicial supervision and forbidden from leaving the Municipality of Bucharest and the County of Ilfov without the court's consent.

The two are in the nation awaiting trial on separate counts of rape, human trafficking, and organizing a criminal organization to take advantage of women sexually.
