Veteran Nollywood actor Amaechi Muonagor dies at 62 after a long battle with kidney disease.
This comes just a few days after he posted a viral video asking Nigerians for financial aid so he could fly abroad for a kidney transplant. He suffered a stroke in 2023 that led to partial paralysis of his left leg.
A prominent actor and film director, Ugeze J. Ugeze, confirmed the news, stating that the late actor had just been discharged from the hospital while raising money for his future treatment overseas.
He characterized the deceased as a passionate performer who was always willing to be instructed on set.
"Muonagor gave it all. He was someone I'd directed countless times. "God knows best," Ugeze explained.
Also corroborating the report, a notable social media influencer and head of the Delta State Sports Association, Morris Monye, said on his official X (previously Twitter) that famed Nigerian actor Amaechi.
“Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing. He was a talented Nollywood actor whose presence on our screens was masterful."
"We watched with concern as he battled health issues, offering whatever support we could to help him seek treatment in India.This tragic loss highlights the need for better healthcare in our country,” he wrote.
