On March 25, a father was swept away by floodwaters from South C to the vicinity of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.

Reports indicate that the harrowing incident, captured in a viral video, unfolded amidst nearly eight hours of continuous heavy rains from Sunday night into Monday morning in Nairobi.

The video, widely circulated across social media platforms, depicts the man's desperate struggle for survival as he is mercilessly carried along by the forceful currents of the floodwaters.

The relentless downpours have been observed across all 17 sub-counties.

With visible debris clinging to his clothing, the man can be seen gasping for air and appearing disoriented.

The man's desperate struggle elicited concern and empathy from bystanders who viewed the video clip.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the man was swept away from his residence in South C, a residential area in Nairobi, to an area near JKIA, one of East Africa's busiest airports.

Areas affected by floods included sections of the Central Business District, Westlands, and Eastleigh, among others.

Miraculously, he managed to cling to a culvert, ultimately saving him from what could have been a tragic outcome.

The widespread circulation of the video sparked discussions and speculations among social media users.

Images and videos circulated on social media platforms depicted widespread flooding in most areas, with vehicles, commuters, and even bodaboda riders struggling to navigate through the waterlogged streets.

Tragically, amidst the chaos caused by the torrential downpour, a police officer lost his life while courageously responding to a distress call.

From walkways to roads and drainages, all sides were inundated, leaving no space for human movement.

Accompanied by his fellow officers, the policeman had hurried to assist a family trapped in their business stalls at Country Bus Station when he was swept away by the surging floodwaters.
