Kenya's DJ and hypemen community has created an online fundraising to help cover the legal bills of murder suspect Hype Ballo.

The drive, spearheaded by some of Kenya's biggest DJ names and leading nightclub hypemen, was launched after Allan Ochieng, alias Hype Ballo, was named the prime suspect in the ongoing murder case of Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer Felix Kelian.

Ballo was first detained with his employer, DJ Joe Mfalme, actual name Joseph Mwenda Munoru, with whom he was charged, along with numerous others, with the killing of the DCI officer.

After 14 days, DJ Joe Mfalme was freed and retained as a state witness, but Ballo remained in prison, with the murder case entirely on his shoulders.

Mfalme was released with Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich, and Agnes Kerubo Mogoiare.

In light of the change of events, Ballo's fellow hypemen have launched a joint internet campaign to aid his legal defense.

Using the hashtag #IStandWithBallo, nightlife entertainers have shown their support for Ballo, claiming that he is innocent and requesting the public's financial assistance to a Paybill number designated for the purpose.

DJ Creme de la Creme, DJ Joe Mfalme, DJ Cibin, Kriss Darling, DJ Lisney, DJ Sych, as well as hypemen MC Gogo, Timeless Noel, MC Hype Don, and Hype Gad Kenya, have already circulated the poster asking people to contribute.

Meanwhile, DJ Mfalme has already returned to the hustle - less than a week after his release, the acclaimed DJ has already played in some of Nairobi's significant nightclubs and has a busy calendar that includes appearances at top nightclubs in Kilifi and Mombasa counties this weekend.
