Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko intervened on Monday when blogger Andrew Kibe was confronted by a group of angry youths while broadcasting live on TikTok. In a video observed by this writer, Sonko can be seen pacifying the irate crowd, who were eager to "teach" Kibe a lesson due to his past dispute with the former governor.

During the TikTok livestream, Kibe was hosting the former County Boss at a restaurant along Ngong Road when the agitated mob, believed to be from Kibra, arrived at the location, demanding Kibe's expulsion.

The unruly youths, who claimed to have learned about the interview from Kibe's social media channels, were convinced by Sonko to retreat from the scene. The altercation, which disrupted the interview, nearly escalated when one of the youths openly expressed a desire to harm the blogger due to his contentious remarks on trending topics.

Throughout the interview, the flamboyant politician disclosed that he is presently without a job and has opted for a more subdued public profile.

In a social media feud last year, Sonko and Kibe clashed after the former governor requested Kibe to abstain from mentioning his name on his YouTube show and intruding into his personal life. Sonko voiced his dismay over Kibe's purported criticisms of Kenyan celebrities, especially women.

"I have heard you. I'm not stupid. Keep off my private life. I am a brand to myself. I don't need to show it off. Stop attacking women. The other day, you were attacking Bahati, a young man trying to earn a living. You attacked Kamene Goro, Millicent Omanga, and Karen Nyamu. What is wrong with you? You are full of gossip," Sonko said.

In response, Kibe posted a video openly criticizing the politician, branding him a loser and advising him to adopt a more humble attitude. However, during the interview, the two seemed to have reconciled their differences, sharing drinks and jokes as the interview was streamed live on Sonko's Twitter account.
