Talks are underway for Mahershala Ali, a two-time Academy Award winner, to join Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey from Marvel's Avengers in the upcoming Jurassic World movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ali is thinking about joining the renowned cast, which currently includes Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. This movie will be the next installment in the multibillion-dollar Jurassic World franchise. Gareth Edwards, who you might recognize from the Warner Bros. Monsters universe and Godzilla, will helm the film. Production is scheduled to start in mid-June in London.

The new movie's creative story direction is still in the air, especially considering how the last one drastically changed Jurassic World by releasing dinosaurs into the wild and threatening the ecosystem. Although fans hope these repercussions will be addressed in later movies, The Hollywood Reporter reveals no plot details. And to be honest, it's not unusual these days.

The script for this installment has been entrusted to David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. His return to the franchise's creative team is a promising sign, potentially signaling a return to the series' beloved roots.

Leading the production team are Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, producing through Kennedy/Marshall, with the esteemed Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer through Amblin Entertainment. The project will be overseen by Sara Scott, executive vice president of production at Universal, and Jacqueline Garell, creative executive of the studio, ensuring a high-quality production.

The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on July 2, 2025. Thank goodness. Cinemas. Indeed!
