For the first time, the singer has opened up on her YouTube channel about why she left her home country for a Western country.
Ray C explained that after overcoming drug addiction and leaving rehab, people did not take her seriously.
"As you already know I had gone through trying times but I thank God I was able to stand again."
"In 2017-2018 I went back to studio, released some songs but I still didn't have peace, I needed to heal. You know you can heal physically but the heart still isn't healed," she said.
To get the peace of the heart she wanted, Ray C needed to leave;
"I felt like people were not taking me seriously. I said I would not force respect, it would come by itself. At the time, I had already traveled so much, in many countries. I asked God to get me out of this country (Tanzania)."
Since moving abroad, the 'Wanitafuta Nini' hitmaker got a husband and a son.
She announced she was pregnant in February 2023 in an Instagram post;
"Wakati wa Mungu ni wakati sahihi." (God's timing is the perfect timing"
On February 13th, she shared the first photo of her son Shah Rukh.
