Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, a move that many saw coming, but with some surprising details. Waza has learned that J Lo submitted the legal documents on Tuesday in L.A. County Superior Court, but notably, she did so without a lawyer, filing pro per, which means she represented herself.
Jennifer listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024. The couple initially married in a Las Vegas ceremony on July 16, 2022. However, today’s date, August 20, holds special significance it marks the second anniversary of their grand, more traditional wedding ceremony in Georgia. The timing of her filing on this date seems far from coincidental.
One of the biggest surprises in the filing is that Jennifer does not mention whether there is a prenuptial agreement, and sources close to the situation have confirmed to Waza that no prenup exists. This means that any earnings or profits made by Ben and Jen during their nearly two years of marriage would be considered community property.
During their marriage, Ben starred in films like "Air" and "Hypnotic" and produced "The Instigators." He also recently completed filming "The Accountant 2." Meanwhile, Jennifer worked on projects including "Shotgun Wedding," "The Mother," 'This Is Me ... Now,' and "Atlas."

It's particularly shocking given that this is J Lo’s fourth marriage and Ben’s second—most would assume a prenup would be in place. It seems the couple believed their marriage was forever, but things didn’t work out as planned.
In the documents, Jennifer waived any claim to spousal support and requested that the judge deny Ben any support as well. Since they didn’t have children together, there are no custody issues to resolve.
In another twist, despite the divorce filing, it appears that their financial matters have not been fully settled. TMZ previously reported that the couple put their Beverly Hills home up for sale, Ben purchased a new house in Brentwood, and Jennifer is currently searching for a new home herself.
