Prudence Tonui, widely known as King Kalala has announced her departure from NRG Radio. In a statement released on October 8, 2024, she expressed that the decision to leave was a difficult one. Kalala also shared her enthusiasm for the future, stating that while her time at NRG Radio has come to an end, she will be revealing her next steps soon.

“After much thought, I have decided to part ways with NRG Radio. This decision wasn’t easy, but I believe it’s time for me to explore new directions and focus on exciting new ventures ahead. To all my fans; I want to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support and enthusiasm throughout this journey. Your belief in me and what I do has meant the world,” read part of the statement.

Until her departure, King Kalala at NRG hosted the “NRG Transit Queens” show alongside Kamene Goro and Kapinto.

She also hosted one of the best breakfast shows in Kenya called the B Club show where she co-hosted alongside 3 men dubbed ‘3 Men Army’.

Kalala gained recognition for her distinctive voice and her perspectives on important issues, especially those concerning relationships. She secured her position at NRG Radio thanks to her vibrant personality and significant social media following.

Kalala’s departure from the station comes just days after Natalie Githinji exited, following five years of rocking the NRG airwaves.
