Over the weekend, Drake and his father, Dennis Graham, delighted the audience at a jazz club in Toronto by performing a duet of T-Bone Walker’s classic 1947 hit, “Stormy Monday.” The father-son duo joined Shane Philips and the Band of People during Philips’ set, as reported by Billboard. Philips remarked, “These guys are on my mic, but it’s fine. Peace and love is part of this,” reflecting the joyful atmosphere of the performance.
After the show, Philips shared a selfie with Drake on social media, captioning it: “It’s not often that I let people up on my stage, but #drake showed up to my show with his dad, and guess what… his dad could sing, so I got them both up. If my dad were alive, I would have wanted the same.”
This heartwarming moment with his father follows a more serious note earlier this month when Drake performed at a Toronto club for Tyrone Edwards’ Nostalgia Party. During that performance, he expressed his feelings about fake friends and betrayal, stating, “My real friends are definitely in the building. But let me tell you, you’re going to reach a point in life where people you thought were friends, people you thought were close to you, switch up.” He warned about those who might try to deceive or betray you, emphasizing the realization that comes with life’s challenges: “Sometimes it’s you and you alone by yourself.”
