Jamaican dancehall icon Adidja Palmer, famously known as Vybz Kartel, suffered a health scare while performing at a popular Kingston nightclub.
While partying at Meca Nightclub, Kartel, who his wife, Sidem, accompanied, began experiencing breathing difficulties, leading to panic among fans.
The incident, captured in viral social media videos, shows the “Comet” hitmaker struggling as patrons and security staff tried to assist him.

In the footage, the DJ can be heard asking the crowd to clear space for Kartel, who appeared overwhelmed by the heat inside the club. He was later seen sitting on a railing, being fanned by concerned fans before being escorted out of the venue by security personnel.
Sources close to Kartel later assured the Jamaican Observer that the musician was “doing fine” following the alarming incident. Kartel, who has been battling Graves' disease—a severe thyroid condition—has previously faced health issues, including swelling in his neck and face, as well as bulging eyes. His condition, along with a heart issue that may require surgery, has raised further concerns about his overall health.
Earlier this year, Fox 5 News shared details from Kartel’s private doctor, revealing that the artist's health challenges were worsening. Despite his ongoing medical struggles, Kartel’s legal troubles took a positive turn recently.
After being jailed in 2014 for the murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams, his conviction was overturned by UK judges in March, and he was released from prison in August without facing a retrial.
Vybz Kartel's recent health scare highlights the toll Graves' disease can take, a condition also faced by other celebrities like Wendy Williams, Missy Elliott, and Sia.
