If you thought 2024 was a big year for Kendrick Lamar, 2025 might just top it. He kicked off the year by taking home five GRAMMY awards for his scathing Drake diss track, *"Not Like Us."* He won in every category he was nominated for (five in total), including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video. Notably, his track made history as the first diss song ever to win a GRAMMY. And the momentum didn't stop there—Kendrick also teased an Apple Music interview ahead of the Super Bowl to build excitement for his performance.
Then came the Halftime Show, which stirred up intense debate. Some called it one of the worst ever, with plenty of differing opinions from fans and critics alike. Whether you found it boring or not, it was undeniably a historic moment for hip-hop. Kendrick may have just closed the book on the Drake saga once and for all, all on one of the biggest stages in the world.

Of course, Drake isn’t out of the game yet—he’s still Drake, after all. He has the opportunity to bounce back with his upcoming collaborative project with PARTYNEXTDOOR, *$OME $EXY $ONGS 4 U*, dropping on Valentine's Day. But for now, he’s in a bit of a tough spot.

As for Kendrick, the accolades keep coming in 2025. He’s set to add a double diamond record to his legendary career, according to *Hip Hop All Day*. His 2017 smash hit, "HUMBLE." from *DAMN.*, has officially sold 20 million units, making it only the second track to achieve this feat, following *"Sunflower"* by Post Malone and Swae Lee. More impressively, "HUMBLE." is the first pure rap song to hit double diamond status, surpassing other chart-topping tracks like *"Goosebumps,"* *"God's Plan,"* and *"SICKO MODE."* This is especially surprising, given how some fans consider "HUMBLE." a bit too "pop rap." Regardless, it's a massive accomplishment and surely not the last one for Kendrick in 2025.
