On 21 February 2023, Comedian Eric Omondi led a demonstration against the high cost of living outside the Parliament building.

Now, who exactly is Eric Omondi today? This man can be described as a hybrid activist since you will find him in comedy, music, church, and politics. He is all-rounded!

According to online footage, Eric was accompanied by large, bare-chested men carrying placards that displayed the current costs of the most expensive home utilities.

The men held the placards high with screaming words; Stima juu, unga Juu, taxi juu, mafuta juu: the high cost of living.

Even though many believe that Eric is just creating his humor and that no one will take him seriously, the increasing cost of living expense has left many with questions.

The high cost of living continues to be a topic of debate, with those who did not vote or those who voted for the opposition blaming it on those who voted for making what they have called a wrong decision.

I'm also sick of strangers who strike up a conversation by saying, "Hello, Serikali, Mlichagua na nani?"

This is not the first time Eric Omondi has led demonstrations outside Parliament. Last year, he demonstrated outside Parliament to approve a measure mandating that media outlets broadcast 75% Kenyan material.

The comedian's band played many Kenyan hits as they joined him. They then went inside the structure and handed the bill to the members of Parliament. He voiced his belief that lawmakers would approve it and sign it into law by President Ruto.

While leading a group of muscular, shirtless young men in demonstrations outside the Parliament, comedian Eric Omondi was arrested.

His arrest comes just a day after he requested the DCI to arrest the man who composed the Tundu la Shimo lyrics claiming he is a notorious artist.
